Waveform Definition - What is a Waveform?

A waveform describes a signal which is moving in a physical medium. Waveforms can be visualized on graphs where time is measured on the x-axis and the amplitude of the signal is measured on the y-axis. The graph shows the changes in the amplitude of the audio signal over a certain period of time time. The graph of a waveform of an audio clip would show the changes in its amplitude for the length of the clip.
