079 Dr. Bethany Rushworth: The Present and Future of Dentistry

Dr. Bethany Rushworth discusses the her path from dental school to becoming one of the most well recognized and respected young dentists in the UK. Included are her experiences and thoughts related to COVID-19, dealing with stress in dentistry, the importance of mentorship, the role of social media in building name recognition, and what she looks for in choosing CE courses. Dr Bethany Rushworth qualified from the University of Leeds with distinction in an integrated masters in dental surgery from the University of Leeds in England before going on to work in general practice gaining a wealth of experience in general dentistry. She has won the 'Fast Track 4 rising star in dentistry award' in 2019 as well as being a finalist in both the national 'Dentistry Awards' and 'Private Dentistry Awards 2019', at the latter being awarded highly commended. This recognition reflects her attention to detail and effort she puts into each and every patient she cares for. After being ranked first in the country out of 530 candidates during the national recruitment interview process, Dr Rushworth undertook further training in oral and maxillofacial surgery managing patients with complex dental and medical needs. She has multiple papers and articles published in scientific journals, magazines and newspapers and works alongside some of the biggest brands in the dental industry. Dr Rushworth sits on various editorial and advisory boards and is the new editor of the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Dentistry, available to pre-order on amazon now and due to be shipped August 2020. Dr Rushworth is the student engagement lead for Dentinal Tubules an online education resource and has founded a student study club of around 2,000 undergraduate members. She has organised multiple national conferences, ran countless workshops, webinars and lectures and enjoys promoting mental wellbeing and coping strategies for those suffering from anxiety and high levels of stress.
