Several killings of unarmed Black citizens at the hands of police this year, most notably George Floyd, sparked nationwide protests, against the backdrop of a pandemic that is emphasizing racial and economic inequalities. Keith Wailoo joins Before the Ballot to discuss the events of 2020 — placing them within historical context and discussing what makes this moment unique. Wailoo is the Henry Putnam University Professor of History and Public Affairs at Princeton University.
